George drove the perfect race. Pole, clean air, track position and complete control. He was never truly challenged and never needed heroics. Like the archetypal London cabbie, he simply knew the quickest way home and delivered an impeccable win.

Kimi was the Roman cabbie. Faster, more chaotic and much less predictable. PitWallGeek instruments shows the strongest underlying pace of the race, but he got too excited at the start and lost precious time fighting his way back. Brilliant speed, imperfect execution.

Max sat between them. He did not have George’s clean race or Kimi’s outright pace advantage, but he gave everything, recovered through the field and finished a deserved second. The fans saw it too and voted him Driver of the Day.

George won the race. Kimi won the pace charts.

But Max was Max — at maximum.
